Hey, come back

It was exactly a year ago when Randall first visited this farm, or, any farm. He was then fascinated but reserved, and was too scared to feed the goats or the sheep, let alone the bigger cows. But now he is yelling, “Hey, come back! I have vegetables for you guys!”

Bricks, gyms, trains, Chinese, and a lot more

DSC09350.JPGThis is a recap of our vacation in China this year. Despite what appears to be bad luck to mommy, Randall has had a wonderful time and had made good progress in the Chinese language and some other skills. Taking a cruise ship is a whole new experience while riding the Thomas train in a shopping mall is his favorite. He is now able to make a full sentence in Chinese,  use training chopsticks, build a Lego vehicle, and most importantly drive a jeep… well, of course, the mini-person version! Read more…

Potty trained & the big ship

DSC05746Randall is now almost 40 months old and we decide to try potty training him again. He made his first pee pee in the toilet more than half a year ago, but didn’t seem ready to be fully potty trained yet.

This time it all happens in just two days – one day of accidents and another day of no accidents. And all it takes for this overnight change is the one thing I tell him: “You have to be potty trained to go on that big ship.” Well, of course we’ve made it up. We have already booked the cruise trip before we start training him. We would go anyway even if he was not trained by that time. But that has just worked! Now it’s time to enjoy our trip on the big ship.

Chicago

Three days with a 4-hour flight each way to Chicago. I had thought it was just going to be a rushed trip, but Randall ended up making the most of it: watching “Thomas” videos on the plane and at the restaurant, going to Millennium Park and visiting the Aquarium… This guy had so much fun that he kept saying he wanted to go to Chicago again.
