What did the sea say to the sand? Nothing. It just waved.
Randall went on his first hiking trip in Tennessee Valley together with his best buds. “Going to the beach for a picnic”, an expression from one of his favorite books now came true. It turned out to be such a wonderful experience that he kept saying he would like to go back again. He also appeared to remember every detail about it. “The sea hit me, and I slipped and then fell down on my bottom,” recalled Randall later that night. He smiled when he said the word “hiking” to himself.
One day before his birthday, Randall was told that he was going to turn three the next day when he woke up. Then when it came to his birthday, he said “I’m turning 4!”. Not bad counting, though.
This year we joined Randall’s classmate Sophia in hosting a group birthday party at AcroSports in San Francisco and almost all his classmates attended the party. Randall enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. He was so busy playing that he hardly ate his own birthday cake. And there was more. After the party, some of the kids continued their fun at a playground in Golden Gate Park. It was the first day of daylight savings this year and everybody enjoyed the beautiful warm weather and an extra hour of daylight.
We officially kicked off Randall’s potty training process this weekend. To our surprise, he quickly learned to pee in his potty. When I thought everything was going so well and he would soon learn to hold and go to the bathroom by himself, Randall immediately proved me wrong by creating indoor puddles on the living room floor.
Can’t say enough about this playground built from “trash”. Absolutely awesome!
All the kids here are practicing their building skills, from hammering a nail or painting a wood board, to making some sort of structures out of their imagination.
Randall is fascinated by all the tools and the garbage lying around here.
Right after we came back from Napa Valley, where Randall had gained confidence in a pool, mummy signed him up for a swimming class. And here came the first lesson. Later that weekend when asked about the lesson, he told mummy very proudly that he had learnt to kick his legs in the pool.
