Napa Valley

It was a three-day getaway in Napa Valley and a trip planned just one day before. We’d put it as wine in the morning and pool in the afternoon, but what would be more accurate from Randall’s perspective was grape juice tasting, hot tubbing and a little bit of rock collecting.

Ride

What could possibly beat riding on a scooter, a trike and a Little Tikes coupe on the same day in the warm beautiful sunshine? And don’t worry that the steering wheel comes out from time to time. It just makes driving even more fun.

Three Elephants

About two weeks ago, Randall showed us his finger counting with “Five Little Monkeys” in countdown order for the first time. It was not until then that we realized that he finally understood the meaning of those numbers while he had learnt to verbally count and recognize their written forms a year before. Since then, he’s been using numbers a lot in his conversations (100% correct up to 3, can sometimes figure out 4 and 5) although he does not understand the purpose of one-to-one counting yet.

We went to Oakland Zoo again on the morning of Christmas Eve. We were lucky to see some big animals awake and active despite the cold weather. Randall said that he saw “three elephants,” and he watched one of them getting food from a bucket hanging down from a tree.

Christmas at Tilden Carousel

We came here to meet Santa and see Christmas lights tonight. Randall was thrilled with his first Christmas event experience.

Randall got a gingerbread cookie after two carousel rides, and he shared it with his little donkey! He claimed there were two Santas, one he had a picture with and another one on the screen.

Christmas Pyramid

These colorful wooden decorations were like a miniature fairyland to Randall. He was pointing at each small object – ducks, geese, trees, trains, or the little girl – and telling stories about them.
